THE CALL OF SOUND
In a culture of buildings and concrete – a culture of ever-more complex technologies, it’s easy to forget that we all speak the miraculous language of Nature. It’s easy to forget that human language and song was born tens of thousands of years ago and can reconnect us to our true nature in the present. This one-day workshop is a unique opportunity to explore the use of sound as a magical tool to deepen and enrich your connection to life. The day is specially designed to awaken your creative and healing instincts in an atmosphere of play and delight.
THE HUMAN VOICE
The sounding of the human voice is the oldest instrument in the world and yet it is one which so many of us have lost touch with. Despite using it everyday to communicate with, we give our voices very little attention until with a cold, or tension, it fails us. Countless people hold enormous judgement in particular around their singing voice and hide it in shame. And yet if you were to discover that you have the power to surrender to the flow of your humane voice you would surely be moved by its purity and essence. The act of singing is therefore a powerful teacher, teaching us to befriend the voices that arise through us, and the feelings they emote. We learn to let go and be supported by something beyond conscious control. Lifted on the breath the sounds that are released can evoke feeling and a dance of the imagination. Being sung we are lead to a magical realm that expands our being and brings us rest and renewal.
STEPPING INTO THE REALM OF YOUR POWER
We all have had the experience of the power of music to both rouse and soothe emotion whether it be in an emotive environment like a concert or rave club or at home. Music is a powerful anchor for us all and has been used for thousands of years to evoke passion in battle, to bring communities together in celebration and ritual and to heal the human spirit. It's no coincidence for example that each country has its own National Anthem - bearing it's own unique identity through a combination of rhythm and sounds. You will therefore explore the nature of Sound to discover a more alive and powerful identity waiting to be brought to life within you. Part of that process will also address key strategies to speaking in public so that you have a taste of how it feels to speak your truth with real power and confidence.
CATALYSING YOUR CREATIVITY
Music teaches us important lessons about the way harmony operates in the world and has the potential to connect us with the eternal. Therefore through the creation of spontaneous music together using a range of percussion instruments, we can learn to trust ourselves and each other. We learn the art of co-creation, of giving and receiving, of expressing and listening….of playing…failing…and recovering gracefully. Creativity in life demands experimentation and when we release the judgements about getting it wrong we free ourselves to get it right.
FINDING FREEDOM
Since the dawn of human time, ancient peoples have communicated with Nature and the Universe through the power of sound. The repetitive beat of the drum, hypnotising and powerful, aligns us to the rhythms in the universe and our bodies. Drumming which is particularly dominant in Shamanic practises and is widely known to create trance states, affects the action of the reticular activating system (RAS) located in the brainstem and so normal brain activity is suppressed. A person's consciousness is freed to explore other forms of perception, many of which can be 'enlightening' and give insight and clarity. You will have the opportunity to create sacred space and sounding for one another.

Integral to the process is the creation of sacred space; space in which to reconnect with and share an expanded sense of self and life. ABOUT YOUR SOUND QUEST GUIDES
Davide De AngelisDavide De Angelis was born in London, England. He is a shaman, philosopher, speaker and visionary guide. He is also a musician and passionate about exploring innovative business ideas and creative paths to living abundantly. His Money Shaman website and daily mantras attract a worldwide audience of over 60,000 people. He has appeared on television and radio in the UK, USA and Japan. And his new book, ‘The Guiding Principle’ – one simple truth that reveals the miracle of life, has just been released (see books section).
As an award winning designer and art director, he has worked for some of the most innovative companies and people in the world, including Apple, Sony and the iconic David Bowie and U2. He gained an international reputation for creating unique and powerful ways of using language and images to communicate ideas. Bowie describes Davide’s work as “potent visual alchemy” With a deep passion for delving into the mysteries of life and a desire to discover his own truth, he has spent over twenty years studying Shamanism, Yoga, Sound Healing and Movement Practices. He has taken part in shamanic healing rituals since he was nineteen and worked directly with shamanic plant medicines and ritual sound for over twelve years. His own use of Vision Questing began thirteen years ago in Mexico, and since then he has used this powerful process to help people discover a deeper and far more sacred aspect of life. At forty-four a dramatic shift in consciousness opened him to a direct realisation of the vast and beautiful Intelligence that shapes our lives. He calls this Intelligence, The Guiding Principle. A second powerful realisation at forty-five ended all further seeking and confusion, giving rise to a powerful way of opening others to the possibility of recognising their own miraculous nature.
Esther De Angelis Esther De Angelis is a woman of passion and colour who believes that each of us has powerful creative gifts to explore and share with the world. She is of the opinion that creativity framed in ritual ceremony unleashes hitherto undiscovered forces and resources within the individual and the collective. She is adamant that aliveness and imagination is key to the evolution, human connection and community that will serve us all in this 21st century. Her journey of the creative arts and spiritual transformation began 20 years ago after a brief training and career as an accountant. Since then she has combined her practice as a Visionary Artist with other exuberant creative disciplines such as music and sound; devising and pioneering Sound Circles, Sacred Voice Circles and Drum Circles for adults and children for twelve years. She has drummed and sung with a range of bands for the past 16 years including African drumming Beats Xstatic, African singing with Amos Kosso, Bhajan singing and musical duets with her husband davide as Sound your Bliss. More recently she has been called to sing her intuitive songs at sacred events such as the Tribe of Doris Festival and Trance Dance with Shivani De Swaart at DrumJam. She is more than likely to be found with a magic handbag of instruments wherever she goes – introducing sound and play to all she meets. She also has an extensive knowledge and experience of art practices and is intent on sharing the magic of the arts with music in community, particularly the Carnival Arts. Her visual work has evolved to reflect her own spiritual discovery and journey into ritual healing practises, disciplines and world cosmologies such as those from The Kabbalah, Yoga and Shamanism. She has studied with many Spiritual teachers and Shamans from around the world and in recent years has assisted and been absolutely blessed by the sacred soundings in many special rituals here in the UK and abroad. Esther embodies a very practical, heartfelt nature and she applies this with other personal growth and healing modalities to her transformational work as a visionary coach, hypnotherapist and sound healer. She is an accomplished public speaker, an Advanced Toastmaster and was head of mentoring at London Corinthians. She continues to present yoga as an incredible movement practise that every person deserves to experience for themselves, and loves teaching people to come into a greater, magical relationship with their bodies and life. She has lived in and around Hampstead and the heath for 33 years.

Full address provided upon booking. We introduce you to the Sound Quest process and outline the structure for the day. We will provide everything you need including instruments. We will create sacred space together and set our intentions for the day. We will be exploring all manner of sounding inside our home and outside in nature. Practices will include overtone chanting, playing percussive instruments, body percussion, singing and an introduction to sound healing and sound with movement on hampstead heath.
